Invitation to Submit a Short Article to ‘Leadership in Focus: The Journal for Australasian School Leaders’

SUBJECT: The editorial board is seeking short articles (500-2,500 words) for forthcoming issues of the journal.

Next article submission deadlines: 8 October 2008 & 1 February 2009

27 August 2008

Dear Education Colleagues,

‘Leadership in Focus’ is a quarterly professional development paper-based journal for Australasian school leaders in P-12 schools (catering for students from 5 to 18-years-old). Articles in ‘Leadership in Focus’ centre on issues, trends, debates, reforms, research and developments in education (at the school, district, regional, national, State/Territory and international levels) that impact on schools and the work of practising school leaders.

We are writing to you to ask if you are able to provide an article outlining new polices and programs, legislation, trends, developments, research and education debates in your own country, State, Territory or locality that may be relevant, and of professional interest, to school leaders in Australasia.

Practising principals, assistant/deputy principals, leading teachers and department/faculty heads, from all countries, are encouraged to submit articles for possible publication in the journal. However, the editorial board also warmly welcomes articles of interest to school leaders written by other educators, such as education policy makers, consultants and education researchers.

Your own topic, based on your own area of interest/expertise (and keeping in mind current issues, trends, debates, reforms, research and developments in education and educational leadership) is most welcome. Your target audience is, of course, practising school leaders throughout the Australasian region. Some background information about your country’s education system and/or your school may be necessary at the beginning of your article. Any recommendations you might make to school leaders, based on your experience, knowledge or research would be most appreciated.

Articles should be emailed directly to the Executive Editor, Ms Debra Brydon (as attached Word files or as plain email messages) at: brydon@cybertext.net.au

Please do not format your article (e.g., columns, borders, etc.). Tables should not be included but should be explained as text. Acronyms should be spelled out in full the first time they are used, for the benefit of interstate or overseas readers. Only short reference lists can be included. Photos, to accompany articles, are especially welcome. They should not be embedded in the article itself but emailed separately as attached JPEG files, saved at the highest possible resolution.

Prospective writers who wish to discuss a possible topic, or who would like to review a copy of ‘Leadership in Focus’ before starting to write, should email me with their request and postal address. Otherwise, articles can be emailed directly to me and their receipt will be confirmed by return email.

Thank you for considering this invitation to voluntarily share your professional expertise and experiences with other education colleagues. I look forward to your response.

Best wishes,

Debra J. Brydon

Executive Editor
