A PROMINENT member of an exclusive Melbourne men's club has described as "chilling" the attitudes displayed by men towards women at the club's annual general meeting.
John Ridley, former state Liberal Party director in Victoria, sent the scathing assessment to a large group of fellow members of Melbourne's Athenaeum Club after attending the club's AGM in April, when the issue of women members was discussed.
In his emailed account of the meeting, obtained by The Weekend Australian, Mr Ridley wrote: "When I looked around the room last night, I suddenly felt a chill about the attitudes and qualities that so many club members reflect.
